Julie Ashurst

Julie qualified as a Management Accountant over 25 years ago, and has had a successful career in finance in the NHS. She started working in St Helens in 1991 and worked with a Community Provider organisation for many years until PCTs were established. She then went to work in her home town of Wigan, where she stayed for a further 14 years and progressed her career to become an Assistant Director of Finance.

In 2016, Julie came back to work in St Helens as Deputy Chief Finance Officer. Julie also led on Estates and IT and was heavily involved in the development of some key system wide projects, including the St Helens Shared Care Record and the development of a midwifery led unit and children’s hub in St Helens. Julie shows a passion for developing collaborative projects with other health and care partners across St Helens as she believes that this will lead to better outcomes and experiences for our residents. Recently, this passion has led to a career change in to the role of Director of Commissioning, Primary Care and Transformation. Julie is looking forward to the new challenges that this role will bring and is hoping to strengthen further the integration we have achieved so far in St Helens.

Outside of work, Julie has 2 grown up daughters and enjoys keeping fit. She has been a keen cyclist but more recently enjoys the gym or home fitness classes.
