Accountable Officer

  

 Mark became the Accountable Officer for the CCG and the Executive Director of Integrated Health and Care on 15th February 2021 – this is a joint role with St Helens Borough Council.  Prior to this, Mark spent the last four years at Cheshire East Council in the role of Executive Director for People’s Services with responsibility for Adults Social Care, Children and Young People, Public Health and Communities.  Mark has also been the NHS and Council Place lead for Cheshire East and led on Public Sector Transformation across the sub region of Cheshire and Warrington. 

He has previously worked as Corporate Director of Strategic Commissioning for Cheshire West and Chester Council responsible for Adults Social Care, Children and Young People commissioning and Public Health where he was the lead director for the ‘All Together Better’ programme – forging relationships with a range of partners and stakeholders.

Mark has a wealth of experience in collaborative working and integration and is a passionate advocate for commissioning services that genuinely improve local people’s lives and tackle inequalities.

Mark’s first job after leaving school was as an Occupational Therapy Assistant which led him to discover a passion for social work and he then moved to Bath to complete a degree in Sociology followed by a Diploma in Social Work.

Mark has built up his skills and knowledge throughout his career through a range of local authority, voluntary and private sector roles including time spent in Bath and North East Somerset, Wiltshire, Hampshire, Stoke on Trent, Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East.

He is married with three teenage children and enjoys walking his two very bouncy dogs and dabbling in DIY.
