Joint Strategic Needs Assessment

It is a joint piece of work between the Council, the Clinical Commissioning Group and representatives from the voluntary and community sector, which pulls together information about the local population including data on health, housing, social care, education and the environment.

It aims to help commissioners from across the Council, Clinical Commissioning Groups and other partners to understand the key health and wellbeing issues and tackle health inequalities.  The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment is used as the evidence base for the St Helens Health and Wellbeing Strategy.

In order to determine the most pressing issues facing the borough a prioritisation process was developed to ensure that a broad range of issues were considered.
