St Helens and Knowsley CCG’s in partnership with NCT, the UK's largest charity for parents, are pleased to offer expectant first time parents in St Helens antenatal parent education delivered by NCT Practitioners.

NCT's Preparation for Birth and Beyond antenatal education programme is provided between 28 - 36 weeks of pregnancy. The 6-hour interactive online course aims to prepare pregnancy women for the birth of their baby and the early days of parenting.

The course has been written in partnership with Midwives from St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust and will consist of at least 4 hours of interactive learning via Zoom plus further enhanced support via WhatsApp. Courses will take place on evenings or at weekends with different options available.

Parents who are expecting a baby will feel more confident about making the right decisions when caring for their new baby and looking after their own health and wellbeing. At the same time, they can meet others going through the same life change and form a support group.

Booking is now open and places can be booked by texting BUMP to 66777. The courses can be booked from 12 weeks of pregnancy.

The courses are scheduled to commence in June, with the first course starting on Wednesday 15th June for 3 consecutive weeks and another course scheduled for Thursday 16th June for 3 consecutive weeks; both at 18:30 - 20:30.

In addition, St Helens CCG is working with Library Services in St Helens to ensure that the programme is digitally inclusive and we are hoping that women will be able to loan a laptop/tablet to access the course if they do not have one but this service has not been launched yet. The course can be accessed via a mobile phone.
