With the closedown of St Helens CCG on 30 June, Geoffrey Appleton, the CCG Lay Chair, will take up a new role as Deputy Chair at St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust on 1 July.

St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Chairman, Richard Fraser, has announced the appointment of Geoffrey Appleton as Deputy Chair at St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Geoffrey, who is the current Lay Chair of St Helens Clinical Commissioning Group, succeeds Val Davies who became Chair at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust earlier this year.

Geoffrey has previously as worked as a Non-Executive Director in the NHS serving as Vice Chair of Liverpool Heart and Chest NHS Foundation Trust.

He is also a Governor and Deputy Chair at Cowley International College and a Foundation Trustee of Liverpool Cathedral and Ambassador for the Workers' Educational Association. Geoffrey also chairs the Safeguarding Adults Board in Cheshire East.   

Richard commented: "Geoffrey brings a wealth of experience to the Trust and I have no doubt he will use his considerable knowledge to help us continue delivering outstanding care for our patients and their families. He knows and understands the Trust well and has always demonstrated a deep commitment to its values. I look forward to working closely with him.”

Geoffrey will commence his new role at the Trust on 1st July 2022.
