Community Pharmacies
Community pharmacies will be open as usual over the Christmas and New Year period with a number opening on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day – please call to check opening times before attending.
Pharmacists are expert healthcare professionals who can give specialist advice for a wide range of health conditions and you don’t need to book an appointment to see them.
Improved access to GPs
If you fall ill after your GP practice has closed, ring your suregry as usual and your call will be forwarded to the Out of Hours service.
There is additional GP appointment time available at evenings and weekends over Christmas for people who need to see a GP with appointments are also available for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Contact your own GP surgery to book.
NHS 111
111 is the NHS non-emergency free number. Call 111 to speak to a highly trained advisor supported by healthcare professionals. They will ask a series of questions to assess your symptoms and immediately direct you to the best place for your care and treatment – and may be able to book you a direct appointment.

Dentists
Local dental providers offer urgent NHS dental clinics across Cheshire and Merseyside (including St Helens) with appointments for patients who need urgent treatment, advice and support for dental queries.
If you need help with an urgent dental problem, please call 0161 476 9651 available from 9am – 9.30pm.
St Helens Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)
If you need fast access to services for a minor illness or injury the St Helens Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) based at the Millennium Centre is open 365 days a year 7am - 10pm Monday to Saturday and 9am - 10pm on Sundays and bank holidays. The UTC is staffed by a team of highly skilled nurses and other healthcare workers with a GP available on site Monday to Friday, 11am - 8pm.
