Further to changes to Government guidance some children and young adults will be eligible to receive a covid vaccine.
Please do not contact your GP surgery but wait to be invited as per the process described below.
For children aged 12 to 15 years of age, only a specific cohort of children with underlying health conditions will be eligible as follows:
- Severe neuro-disabilities
- Down’s syndrome
- Underlying conditions resulting in immunosuppression
- Profound and multiple learning disabilities
- Severe learning disabilities or who are on the learning disability register
In addition children aged 12 years and over who are household contacts of persons (adults or children) who are immunosuppressed will also be eligible.
NHS St Helens CCG is curently working with GP practices to identify eligible children and this cohort will be offered the vaccine by appointment only. We expect the vaccination programme to be rolled out later this month, your GP practice will contact you by the end of the month.
Please do not be concerned if you are on holiday as there will be further opportunities for vaccinations. We will be providing updates on the roll out of this as it progresses.
