Patients registered at Eccleston Medical Centre will soon be able to attend their GP appointments in a new, state of the art facility after the project to bring a new primary care centre to the area reaches completion.

On Monday 4th March, Orbit Developments officially handed over the keys to the practice, just under one year after starting work on a new sustainable building at Millfields Court, near to Sainsbury’s. The development will include a new surgery, integral with additional clinical and administration space and an adjacent pharmacy.

Professor Steve Cox, GP partner at Eccleston Medical Centre, said: “The project to bring a purpose built surgery to Eccleston began over ten years ago and the practice has operated from a portakabin during that period of time.

“The new surgery is now complete and we hope to open our doors to patients on Monday 1st April 2019.  The new surgery will have four consulting rooms and a treatment room, from which Dr Chopra will continue to deliver his long standing successful community ENT clinic.

“The partners, doctors, nurses and staff very much look forward to starting to deliver care for our patients at the new surgery. New patients can register online or via the current surgery at present. I would personally like to thank NHS Property Services colleagues, Sue Griffiths at NHS St Helens CCG and Dominic and his team from Emerson Group who have brought our plans to fruition.”

Michael Hill, Senior Construction Manager, NHS Property Services, added: “We are delighted that Eccleston Medical Centre Partnership now has a brand new, permanent residence for their GP services.  This new building provides long-term stability for the provision of primary care to the local community in St Helens which is a fantastic achievement. One of the key successes of this building is the compact design and efficient use of space leading to the new practice offering more rooms to see patients and greater staff space. Our property and facilities management teams have worked closely with the tenants, Orbit Developments, NHS St Helens CCG and St Helens Council to deliver this high-quality facility and we look forward to welcoming the first patients later this month.”
