The rapid tests, which produce a result in just half an hour, are used to detect asymptomatic cases but there are concerns over the way they are being used, following reports of an increasing number of people using the home test kits when they are showing symptoms.
This could lead to positive cases potentially being missed, increasing the risk of the virus spreading.
Lateral flow tests were a key part of the Government's plan to reopen places across the country and are available to anyone who does not have symptoms.
If you or a family member have any Covid symptoms - a continuous cough, a high temperature, a loss or change in the sense of taste or smell - you must self-isolate and book a PCR test here as soon as possible.
It's really important that lateral flow tests are not used for anyone with Covid symptoms.
