Think Wellbeing St Helens - Talking Therapies (IAPT)

We commission a talking therapies service for adults in St Helens (known as IAPT - Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies) from Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust. This service is called Think Wellbeing St Helens and you can refer yourself if you are suffering from stress or anxiety.
During the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Think Wellbeing St Helens continues to accept new patient referrals. All appointments are currently being delivered online, via telephone or via a secure internet-enabled video link. We are not currently offering face-to-face appointments.

Think Wellbeing St Helens have a dedicated team of psychological wellbeing practitioners, cognitive behavioural therapists and counsellors who offer a range of support to help you make positive changes to reduce stress and anxiety and improve your wellbeing.
Interventions may include:
  • Online cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) via Silvercloud
  • Stress control classes
  • Wellbeing workshops
  • Group therapy
  • One-to-one support
  • Telephone support.
We aim to support you with practical techniques to help you improve and manage your depression or anxiety symptoms.
Who is our service for?
Our service is for anyone over the age of 16 who is registered with a St Helens GP.
We help people experiencing common mental health problems like mild to moderate depression, anxiety and stress. We can also help with other problems like panic attacks, phobias and post-traumatic stress disorder.

How to access the service
Accessing the Think Wellbeing service is simple. You can refer yourself today to our service by completing an online referral form here or call the team on Tel: 01744 647 100.

Alternatively, you can speak to your GP or other healthcare professional who will be able to make a referral to our service on your behalf.

What will happen at my first appointment?
You will receive an initial assessment appointment with a member of our team who will discuss your symptoms and options for treatment.
